As a mum, makeup artist, and PIXI creator, my life is bursting at the seams with inspirations & impressions. I live my life by the motto “live love & laugh” and whether I am working or focusing on my family, I try to infuse passion and creativity into everything I do. Here I hope to share with you some of my ideas of all things beautiful.
With love, Petra

Wishing You a Magical Mothers Day!

Everybody I talk to has lots to say about their mothers and/or motherhood!...Sooooooo I decided to ignore all that and talk about what it means to me :)

I think the below pretty much sums it up:

Some More Thoughts on Motherhood...

"If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?" - Milton Berle

"It is amazing how quickly the kids learn the operation of the DVD, yet are unable to understand the vacuum cleaner." - Etienne Marchal

"When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child." - Sophia Loren

"A mother understands what a child does not say." - Unknown

"There is NO way to be a perfect mother, and a million ways to be a good one" - Jill Churchill

Happy Mother's Day to My Mom!

Our family is spread all over the world, so below is a rare moment...

All 5 of my mom's children in the same country at the same time!
Funny how I’m the only dark haired one...must have been the postman! :)

On a more serious note...every day my mother fights the fights of orphaned children arriving at the Swedish border without anybody else in the world to make sure they are legally safe and loved. She is setting the standard high and pioneering a change of international rules on how to deal with this complex issue. These little ones need a voice, and she is it. A force to be reckoned with, I admire her incredible dedication and work for these children who have nobody.

Ok, I confess...I may have said the the skipping school thing to my older boy a few times! Is that bad?
Oh...and the jacket in the Swedish winter thing i may have said too occasionally...I believe
a little bit of cold toughens you up!

FOR MY BOYS...

What a gift every little one is...and life has a way of teaching us the journey is not always straight forward.

A precious moment with my cuddly koala bear. When I'm 90 years old in my rocking chair, I will still feel his gentle soul.

My little, little one, and me.
My strong, single-minded, American boy
The true miracle that he is!
Always running, never walking.
Never quiet, always talking.
Imagination always flowing.
Keeps the magic onward going.
An American dream - it came true!

My big one & me...

I have to force-cuddle this one as you can see! :)

My Swedish boy,
My pride and joy.
A true Viking,
To my liking.
So smart, with wit so funny,
He makes the future always sunny.
A man who's loyal and sound.
A powerful energy,
You are safe when he is around.

I am so proud he to be his mum.

Mothers to Be Celebrated

I would like to dedicate this Mother's Day to the moms at St. Jude Children's Hospital and Target House in Memphis.
I was honored to spend the day there with my Pixi team doing makeovers last weekend.
What an incredibly thought-provoking & uplifting experience!
Real heroines is the phrase that comes to mind.
We think of you every day to give you strength.

The way I think of motherhood will never be the same since meeting you all and hearing your stories.

Please donate now and help the children of St. Jude at http://shop.stjude.org/GiftCatalog/shop.do?cID=12215&pID=19091&plt=MAMGENLKALSAC1000004

At the event!

These moms were PRETTY - their skin is perfect!

To all the staff at Target House in Memphis, with a special mention for Kerry - you are truly angels on earth!

Mother's Day Sunday in Santa Monica

If you happen to be passing by Santa Monica Pier on Mother's Day Sunday, May 13th - come and see us!

We will be doing makeovers and answering any beauty questions you may have from 11am - 5pm.

A final thought - being a "mother" is not exclusive to those women who have had children. I consider a "true" mother to be any woman who nurtures or looks after someone in some way - I'm sure mother Teresa would agree.

I'm so grateful that my mom taught me so many values - among them are honesty, loyalty and integrity...tell me - what values did your mom teach you? Leave your answer in the comments!

  1. My mother taught me that hard work is the way to get where you want to be in life, work and relationships; "There is just no way around it!", I can here her say. She is always kind but firm in her convictions. She always taught me to help those less fortunate. Cheers to you today, Mum! You have many gray hairs on my behalf! :)
