Great Press! March 2013

This month, we were flattered to have our famous Endless Silky Eye Pen featured in Allure – the silky-smooth formula makes it easy for both beauty experts & beginners to create a flawlessly-lined eye. Check out our new multidimensional Spring shades, CopperGlow & SageGold – they’ve been getting rave reviews!

Cosmopolitan included our Succulent Lip Twin in their list for a ‘Morning-After Emergency Kit’, saying that “a burst of color creates an alert-for-work look (even when you’re exhausted).” We can definitely agree with that! This dual-ended lip balm + lip & cheek crème is great for dabbing on for an instantly energized look and is packed with skin-loving ingredients.

Finally, Santa Barbara Magazine featured Pixi products in their Best of 2013 issue – love it! They even hint at the trends I’m seeing for this year: “hot pinks and corals for lips and blushed cheeks.” Try the new Soft Focus Fresh palette for pinky-peach lips & cheeks plus natural eye shades to go with them.

We’re also very proud to have been featured on Canada’s iVillage website this month! Click the link below to read a great interview with some of my favorite tips & tricks on how to look great with minimal products, in minimal time.

Easy-Glowing Eye Glow Cube

I don’t know about you, but I can feel Spring coming up fast and I am SO excited! Time to say goodbye to dreary Winter days & hello to the bright days of Spring – and the makeup that comes with it!

Our Spring 2013 products are coming to Target stores this month! We will have a masterclass post for the full collection soon (stay tuned!), but today I wanted to give you a special sneak peek of one of the star products from this collection – the Eye Glow Cube.

This palette contains 16 eye shades under the lid + 2 eye base powders and 2 duo applicators in the drawer underneath. The silky-soft shades are gorgeous – creamy golds, nudes, caramels, and bronzes with violet accents enhance all eye shades & are super awakening.

We like to call this a “daylight-hued eye-glow-in-a-cube”, and we’re not alone in loving it – we’ve gotten so much press on this palette and it’s barely even in stores! See below…

Elle UK showcased the palette in a beauty story in their new issue.

Redbook deems Eye Glow Cube “one eyeshadow palette, 16 ways to change your look” – we would have to agree!

People en Espanol recommends it for a Spring beauty buy that won’t break your budget.

Even Beverley Mitchell, star of TV show 7th Heaven, loves the Eye Glow Cube as well!

Here’s a great post from blogger Musings of a Muse on the palette – http://www.musingsofamuse.com/2013/02/pixi-eye-glow-cube-palette-for-spring-2013.html.

What kind of look would you do with the Eye Glow Cube? Keep your eye out for the much-loved palette in Target stores near you!

Jennifer Lawrence 2013 BAFTAs Makeup

As pretty much everyone does at the moment, we love Jennifer Lawrence! She’s refreshingly honest, gorgeous, and a great actress to boot! So, naturally, we were thrilled when we heard that top makeup artist Kay Montano used our Lid Last Shadow Pen to achieve Jennifer’s stunning look at the BAFTAs earlier this month!

This cream-to-powder eye crayon is silky to apply and blends easily to create gorgeous looks on its own, but also works well as a radiant base for powder shadows. The waterproof formula ensures that the shade stays true all day…or for your entire walk down the red carpet! :)

Now on to Jennifer’s makeup!

Kay explains how she created the look on her blog (http://www.kaymontano.com/2013/02/11/jennifer-lawrence-bafta-make-up/):
“I began this look by applying Pixi Lid Last Shadow in a wide smudge under her eyes and as a starter for the shape extending up and outward slightly, and softening in with my fingertips.”

Kay also mentions that she likes to “always make the top lid darker than the bottom, it’s just as dramatic, but way more flattering, not so ‘dragged down’ looking” – we agree & love this trick for a lifted, but still sultry look.

To get a two-toned, faded smoky eye like Jennifer’s, see the how-to below:
- Apply an eye primer from upper lash line to brow. Dab under lower lashes as well.
- Trace upper lash line with a liner in a dark shade and blend well.
- Smudge along lower lash line with a chubby shadow pencil in a colour a few shades lighter than the shade used on upper lash line; again, blend well.
- For an even smokier look, apply the same chubby shadow pencil used on the lower lash line to the outer corner of upper lid & blend out, so that the colour fades out to nothing.

When doing a look like this, we love to work with our Endless Silky Eye Pen in a deep hue on the upper lash line and Lid Last Shadow Pen in a slightly lighter hue (but still in the same colour family) on the lower lash line. Here are three of our favorite combos:

Love it!

Would you ever try this two-toned smoky eye? What shades would you use?
